Young Working Artist
This is my first blog, and I would like to set the premise for what I will write about from this posting forward. I am a 29-year-old artist in New York City, trying to be discovered as an artist and also trying to pay rent on a studio and an apartment in an expensive city.
This is a turning point for me, now, in my life and in my career as an artist. Ever since college, and for the past two years, I have been a full time employee at Forum Gallery on 5th and 57th in Manhattan. Four months ago I decided to leave the steady support of full time employment to provide a more focused time to dedicate to my artwork.
I want this blog to chronicle the development of a young artist in New York City. The highs and lows of making such a drastic decision to leave a well paying job to pursue a romantic dream to be an artist in a city flooded by artist. I will tell of the dos and don’ts as I learn them.
